Lab life

The lab generally consists of 8-12 people comprised of  2-4 PhD students and 6-9 postdocs. A lab manager and technical support ensure a good working environment. Each member of the lab has an individual project, but there is also a lot of collaboration between lab members and with other groups. All positions are fully funded, but most postdocs or PhD students will write fellowships as part of their training and obtain external funding after joining the lab from various sources.

We foster a supportive lab environment that allows to benefit from the best things academic research has to offer: Freedom of pursuit of interesting research topics, freedom to plan the day and collaborate, rather than compete. We pursue science to better understand the biology of the parasites and the hosts we work with,  which may uncover novel targets for therapeutic intervention and we enjoy the creative process along the way. Social activities in the lab are common although we understand that people have a private life.
